How it works

Real wood slats. Precise tilt. Flush fit.

A wooden Venetian blind uses horizontal timber slats suspended on vertical ladder tapes, all housed within a headrail at the top. In the perfect fit version, that entire assembly sits inside a powder-coated aluminium outer frame which clips onto pressure-fit brackets seated in your uPVC window beading. No drilling. No damage. A flush, integrated finish that looks like the blind is part of the window.

  • 25mm real timber slats

The slats are made from real hardwood – typically basswood, with a painted or stained finish. At 25mm wide, they are slimmer than the 50mm slats used in standard wooden Venetians, which keeps the perfect fit frame depth manageable and maintains proportion with the window.

  • Ladder tape tilt mechanism

Each slat sits in the rungs of two vertical ladder tapes, one on each side. The headrail contains a tilt rod that rotates the tapes, which in turn tilt all slats simultaneously. Turning the tilt rod rotates every slat from fully horizontal (open) to fully closed (slats overlapping) with precise control at any angle in between.

  • Pressure-fit frame no drilling

The aluminium outer frame clips onto brackets that sit between the glass and rubber glazing bead of your uPVC window. No tools, no fixings into the wall or frame. The whole assembly can be removed in seconds and reinstalled just as quickly with no marks left on the window.

Key features

What makes the Perfect Fit Wooden Venetian the right choice

The wooden Venetian is the premium option in the perfect fit range, the only type that brings natural material warmth, precise light control, and the no-drill fitting system together.

  • Real wood — not plastic or foil

The slats are made from real hardwood, not PVC printed to look like wood. The grain is natural and varies slat to slat, which is what gives wooden Venetians their warmth and character. The painted or stained finish is applied to real timber, not laminated onto a synthetic substrate.

  • Precise light control at any angle

The tilt rod rotates all slats simultaneously to any angle between fully open and fully closed. Tilt them to direct light upward toward the ceiling (reducing glare while keeping the room bright), or partially closed for privacy while still letting some diffused light through the angled gaps.

  • Zero damage – no drilling

Pressure-fit brackets press between glass and glazing bead by thumb. The outer frame clips onto those brackets with no tools. The whole system removes cleanly without marks, damage, or residue, ideal for rented homes and anyone who doesn't want to fix anything permanently to their window frames.

  • Opens with the window

The frame is attached to the glazed pane, not the wall or reveal. When the window opens, the blind tilts and swings with it, the slats stay horizontal within the frame regardless of the window angle. On tilt-and-turn windows this is the difference between a blind that works and one that catches every time the window moves.

  • Cord-free — child & pet safe

The tilt wand rotates the slats; raising and lowering is done by a short grab cord within the headrail, not a long dangling cord. The entire assembly is contained within the frame. No accessible hanging cords at child height. Meets current UK child safety regulations as standard.

  • Flush, integrated appearance

The aluminium outer frame is colour-matched to your uPVC window profile. The blind sits within the reveal flush with the glazing, no exposed fixings, no brackets on the wall, no gap between the blind frame and the window frame. It reads as part of the window, not a covering hung in front of it.

Tilt control

Three positions. Infinite adjustments.

The tilt rod rotates every slat simultaneously to any angle between fully open and fully closed. Unlike a roller blind — which is either up or down — a Venetian gives you granular control over exactly how much light enters and from which direction.

  • Slats open — maximum light, full view

All slats horizontal. Unobstructed view through the window. Maximum natural light into the room. Useful during the day when privacy isn't a concern.

  • Slats angled — diffused light, privacy

Angled slats let light through while blocking direct sightlines. Tilt them upward to bounce light from the ceiling into the room — the best position for working without glare. The most-used daytime position.

  • Slats closed — full privacy, reduced light

Slats rotate to vertical, with edges overlapping. Blocks direct sightlines completely. Still allows some light through the fabric tape — not a blackout, but very effective privacy.

Slat finishes

Four wood finishes — stained or painted

The slat finish affects both the look and how much grain character shows through. Stained finishes let the wood read as wood; painted finishes treat the timber as a structural material with a clean surface colour.

  • Natural grain
    Natural stain

A transparent or lightly tinted stain that enhances the grain and warmth of the basswood without obscuring it. The most popular finish for rooms with wooden floors, timber furniture, or a warm neutral palette. No two slats are identical.

  • Warm tone
    Light oak stain

A honey-toned stain that deepens the grain slightly and gives the slats a classic light oak character. Works with oak-effect floors and furniture, and sits warmly against cream or off-white walls. The most widely specified stain across living rooms.

  • Rich tone
    Dark oak / walnut stain

A deep brown stain that gives the slats a rich, mid-century character. The grain reads clearly through the darker tone. Suits darker-toned rooms, walnut furniture, and contemporary interiors where contrast is intentional. More dramatic than light finishes at close range.

  • Clean & modern
    Painted white / off-white

A smooth opaque paint over the timber surface — the grain is present but subtle beneath the paint film. The most versatile finish across any room and colour scheme, and the closest alternative to an aluminium Venetian if a cleaner, less woody look is preferred. Available in white and off-white.

How to choose

Where perfect fit wooden Venetians work best

The wooden Venetian brings natural material warmth to the perfect fit system — it suits rooms and positions where the character of real wood matters alongside the practical benefits of no-drill fitting.

  1. 01
    Home offices

Precise tilt control is the feature that matters most in a home office — angled slats direct natural light upward to bounce off the ceiling, eliminating screen glare while keeping the room bright. The warm timber character also softens the functional feel of a workspace.

  2. 02
    Living rooms

Real wood slats add a warmth and texture that aluminium or plastic cannot replicate. Paired with wooden floors, timber furniture, or natural material furnishings, a wooden Venetian reads as a considered material choice rather than a window covering.

  3. 03
    Tilt & turn windows

The frame clips to the glazed pane and pivots with the window in both tilt and turn modes. The slats stay horizontal regardless of the window angle — no catching, no dragging, none of the problems that standard Venetians have when fitted in front of a tilt-and-turn opening.

  4. 04
    Bedrooms

Tilting the slats closed gives substantial privacy and significant light reduction — not blackout, but enough for most bedrooms. Paired with an oak or natural stain, the slats suit the warmer, softer aesthetic of a bedroom much better than aluminium alternatives.

  5. 05
    Rented homes

No drilling means no damage to window frames or walls. The whole system removes cleanly without marks. The perfect fit wooden Venetian is a premium option for renters who want quality window coverings without risking their deposit on fixings into the frame.

  6. 06
    Period & traditional properties

Real wood slats sit in keeping with period joinery, timber window frames, and traditional interior styles in a way aluminium cannot. The painted white or off-white finish on timber reads quite differently to the same colour on a metal slat — warmer and more sympathetic to older buildings.

Questions

Wooden Venetian FAQs

More questions? We'll cover everything at your free survey — no commitment on the day.

Are the slats real wood or wood-effect?

Real wood — specifically kiln-dried basswood, which is the industry standard for Venetian blind slats. Basswood is lightweight, stable, and takes stain and paint evenly across the slat width. The grain is genuine and varies naturally between slats, which is what gives the blind its character. This is not a PVC or MDF substrate with a printed wood-effect surface.

Can wooden Venetians be used in bathrooms or kitchens?

No — timber slats will warp, crack, and deteriorate in rooms with sustained moisture, steam, or condensation. Bathrooms, utility rooms, and kitchen windows directly above a sink or hob are not suitable for wooden Venetian blinds. For these rooms, the aluminium Venetian perfect fit blind is the correct choice — the slats are moisture-proof and won't degrade in humid conditions.

Do perfect fit wooden Venetians work on tilt-and-turn windows?

Yes — this is one of the clearest use cases. Because the frame clips to the glazed pane rather than the wall or reveal, the blind pivots with the window in both tilt and turn modes. The slats hang horizontally regardless of the angle the window is open to — they don't jam, catch on the frame, or need to be removed before opening the window.

What's the difference between the stained and painted finish options?

Stained finishes are semi-transparent — the wood grain remains visible beneath the colour, which gives the slats warmth and natural character. Painted finishes are opaque — the grain is present but subtle beneath the paint film, giving a cleaner, more uniform surface. Stained finishes suit rooms with other natural materials (wooden floors, oak furniture); painted finishes suit rooms where the blind needs to recede into the background or match painted joinery.

How do I clean perfect fit wooden Venetian blinds?

Dust the slats with a dry microfibre cloth or a dedicated blind duster, working from the top slat downward. Tilt the slats flat (horizontal) to access both faces. For marks, spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth — avoid saturating the timber. Remove the frame from the brackets if a thorough clean is needed. Do not use steam cleaners or immerse in water. Regular dry dusting is the most effective maintenance for wooden slats.

Can I get wooden perfect fit Venetians for a uPVC bay window?

Yes — one blind per pane, with each blind clipping individually onto the glazing in that section of the bay. There is no single blind spanning the full bay width; each pane has its own independently operating blind. The frame colour and slat finish are matched across all panes so the installation reads as consistent across the full bay opening.

How much do made-to-measure perfect fit wooden Venetian blinds cost?

Perfect fit wooden Venetian blinds are the premium option in the perfect fit range — priced above roller, pleated, and aluminium Venetian types due to the real timber slat material.
