How it works

Clips in. Stays put. Opens with the window

A perfect fit shutter has an outer frame fitted with a clip system that snaps into the internal bead of a uPVC window — the same groove that holds your double-glazed unit in place. Nothing touches the wall. Nothing touches the plaster.

Inside the frame, horizontal louvers run the full width of the panel. A tilt rod on one side connects all the louvers so you can adjust them together — from fully open to fully closed — with a gentle push. Tilt them up for view, tilt them down for privacy, or close them completely to block the light.

  • No damage to your frames or walls

The clip system applies no force to the uPVC profile beyond what holding the glass bead already does. Landlord-friendly and fully reversible.

  • Moves when the window moves

Because the shutter is fixed to the frame, not the wall, it stays in place when you tilt, swing, or slide the window open. No awkward gap between blind and glass.

  • Precise light control at all times

Louvers rotate to any angle. Let in full light, filter the glare, or close off entirely without touching the window itself.

Why perfect fit shutters

What sets them apart

Six things that make perfect fit shutters a genuinely different choice from hung shutters, blinds, or off-the-shelf alternatives.

  • Zero fixings in plaster or wall

Traditional shutters need a frame screwed into the wall around the window reveal. Perfect fit doesn't. The clip attaches to the window bead only — nothing penetrates the wall surface.

  • Works with opening windows

Hung shutters stay fixed when you open the window, leaving the shutter behind. A perfect fit unit travels with the sash or casement, so ventilation and coverage aren't mutually exclusive.

  • Louver tilt for layered privacy

Angle the louvers downward to block the view in from the street while still letting daylight through. Tilt them up to see the sky. There's no position that leaves you with nothing — you always have some control.

  • No cords — permanently child-safe

Shutters have no operating cords at all. Louvers are adjusted by hand or via the tilt rod. There's nothing to entangle or remove — child safety is built into how they work, not bolted on.

  • Solid, long-lasting construction

Our shutters are made from basswood or moisture-resistant MDF, with a factory-applied paint finish that resists chips and yellowing. Unlike fabric blinds, they don't stretch, fade, or sag over time.

  • Clean, built-in look from inside and out

Because the shutter sits within the window frame rather than in front of it, it reads as part of the window from the street — neater than a blind that hangs in front of the glass.

Where perfect fit shutters work best

They're not the right answer for every window — but when the conditions line up, it's hard to beat them.

  1. 01
    Front-facing living rooms

The tier-on-tier configuration lets you keep the upper window clear for light and sky while the lower panel stays closed against the street. You get the view without the exposure.

  2. 02
    Bedrooms on a busy road

Closing the louvers fully gives good light block — not complete blackout (some light comes around the edges), but enough to sleep in without relying on curtains as well.

  3. 03
    Kitchens with street-level windows

Café-style shutters cover the lower sash only, so you keep your sky view and the light from above. The kitchen doesn't feel closed in, but neighbours walking past can't see directly in.

  4. 04
    Bay windows in Victorian terraces

Perfect fit clips into each window section individually, so a three-section bay gets three independent panels. No awkward frames straddling corners — each section is treated as its own window.

  5. 05
    Rented properties

Because nothing is fixed to the wall or the surround, perfect fit shutters come off cleanly when you move out. You take them with you — or leave them as an added-value feature for the landlord.

  6. 06
    Hallways and landing windows

Tight spaces where a blind on a bracket would stick out. Perfect fit sits flush within the frame, keeping the window recess clear. No cord to catch on when you're passing through.

Common questions

Things people ask before they book

If your question isn't here, call us or book a free survey — we'll have a proper look at your windows and give you a straight answer.

Will perfect fit shutters work on my windows?

They work on internally-beaded uPVC windows — the type where the glazing bead (the strip that holds the glass in place) is on the inside of the frame. This covers most modern uPVC casement, tilt-and-turn, and sliding windows. They don't work on aluminium frames, timber frames, or externally-beaded uPVC. Our surveyor will confirm this at the free visit before you commit to anything.

Do they really not need any drilling?

Correct — no drilling into walls, windowsills, or frames. The clip system grips the internal glazing bead of the uPVC profile. It uses the same groove that holds your double-glazed unit in. Nothing pierces the wall surface or the frame itself.

Can I still open my windows with the shutters fitted?

Yes — this is one of the main reasons people choose perfect fit. The shutter attaches to the window frame, not the wall, so it swings, tilts, or slides with the window when you open it. You don't need to remove or fold anything out of the way first.

Will they completely block out the light?

Closing the louvers gives good light reduction — enough for most people to sleep comfortably. But some light does come around the edges of the frame, particularly at the top and bottom, because the shutter clips inside the window rather than overlapping it. If you need complete blackout, a blackout roller blind may suit you better — or a blackout lining behind the shutters. We'll talk through the options at your survey.

What size are the louvers?

Our standard perfect fit shutters use 63mm louvers, which is the most common size and gives a good balance between view-through when open and coverage when closed. For larger windows we can discuss 89mm louvers which give a more architectural look with fewer horizontal lines across the glass.

Are perfect fit shutters suitable for bathrooms?

MDF-core shutters are moisture-resistant and hold up well in bathrooms with good ventilation. Basswood shutters are less suitable in very humid or steamy rooms as the wood can swell over time. We'll recommend the right core material for your bathroom at the survey based on the room's layout and ventilation.

How long does fitting take?

Most windows take 20–40 minutes each. A typical living room bay window is usually done in an hour to an hour and a half. We'll give you a realistic time estimate before the fitting day so you're not waiting around longer than you need to be.

What happens at the free home survey?

One of our team visits at a time that suits you, checks your window frames to confirm perfect fit is compatible, takes precise measurements, and talks you through the finish and configuration options. You'll get a fixed written quote on the day — no pressure, no hidden extras added later.
